This is my “remix” on the Word given by Pastor James Sheen
Series: Jesus
Title: With All of Our Heart
Man, this past weekend services really got to my heart! Jesus! It seems incredible that we have to remind the Body of Christ to return to the full love for Jesus. Sometimes we get “church” and “ministry” ahead of Jesus! The Bride of Christ has become addicted to herself. Oh wow! Now, I’m the first one to say to myself, “Well, that’s not me, I do love Jesus above all” but then I’m convicted (not condemned!) by the reality of my life. By my daily choices. By the way I interact with others (whether believers or not!).
When I read what Jesus says in Matthew 22:37-40 (as a response to a church goin’ person) that the greatest command in the “Law” (remember, religious people love rules) is “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”. And then Jesus adds “And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets”, I am reminded that when I love God FULLY, with everything in me then everything else falls in place.
You see, when I, a believer, a follower of Christ, LOVE God fully then anything and everything I do is right! Because my LOVE for Jesus is what drives me. Not my thoughts, needs, or expectations, (or even…rules)!
Warning! There is a triune spirit in the Bride that fights our Love for Christ:
1. Acceptance = striving to have people say “I like you”.
2. Affirmation = wanting someone to acknowledge that I’m doing a good job!
3. Validation = needing someone to tell me my future looks bright!
As long as I allow this spirit to “drive me”, it is impossible for God to do His work IN me! As long as I’m living in the above triune spirit then my “ministry” or “calling” will become what I love and worship. Yikes! I don’t want that.
In my personal life I have learned that to fully fall into the arms of Jesus and allow God’s Love to saturate me, keeps me out of a whole lot of trouble! Thank you Lord, thank you for loving me so much.
These thoughts of mine are from the weekend services at Zion’s River church! If you want the full meal deal go to our website http://www.zionsriver.com and click on the link for the entire sermon. Be blessed!!
