This morning as I was headed out on the road I noticed a peculiar looking person. Their clothing was dirty and disheveled and they appeared to be talking to them self. As I continued to look at this person (don’t worry I was at a long stop light) I heard the Lord ask me, “What do you see”? I thought and realized that with my physical eyes I saw a person that didn’t quite fit in society (as we know it). That actually (truth be told) made me a bit uncomfortable. But when I looked with my spiritual eyes, when I asked the Lord to show me what HE saw…it was a totally different picture. I saw a soul. I saw a person very much in need of the truth of the Love of Jesus Christ. My heart melted and tears came to my eyes. I asked the Lord to forgive me for looking at this person, or anyone for that matter, with my physical eyes.
The truth is, we might think there are certain “types” of people that disgust God, or make Him feel uncomfortable. THAT COULD NOT BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! God loved the world (and that means everyone!) that He send His beloved Son! And not so Jesus could condemn the world but so that He could offer salvation to everyone! There is not one person (not ONE) that God doesn’t love and want the best life for. We, as Christians, need to start asking God for more of His sight when we see and interact with people. Whatever “type” of person you find offensive, repent! Start seeing them with and through the eyes of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! You may just find yourself reaching out and sharing the Good News more often.
I certainly thank the Lord that He looks on me and all mankind through eyes of Love, Grace, Compassion, Mercy, and Kindness!! May I, in turn, look at others the same way!
Be blessed!
